SEERM Medical Assistant
This position is temporary; funded through October, 2021.
The George Mason University's, Safety, Emergency, and Enterprise Risk Management department invites applications for a COVID Team Medical Assistant position. The SEERM MA is a key member of the COVID Response Team, and works directly with the On Campus Testing Site team to collect samples. This position aids in the preparation and set up of all sampling/testing, collecting patient samples for COVID19 testing, and ensuring specimen samples and collection activities are documented properly. This position primarily supports the surveillance testing efforts, with possible rotating support for symptomatic testing. The scheduling for this position occurs Monday-Friday, with possible weekend rotations.
COVID Testing Site Procedures:
Aids in the preparation and set up of all sampling/testing sites primarily located within in several sites on the Fairfax campus, with additional sites on the Arlington and Sci-Tech campuses.
Ensures PPE and Safety precautions are demonstrated and in effect at all times;
Ensures all specimen samples and collection activities are documented properly.
Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal;
Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records;
Knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology;
Ability to build rapport with patients;
Compassionate and caring demeanor;
Prior Electronic Health Records experience required (1 year);
Demonstrated clinical background with competence to complete COVID19 testing.
AAMA or AMT certification; CNA certification, or LPN license
Prior experience in specimen collection or nasal , swabbing , or blood services preferable;
Demonstrated experience in a physician's office, acute-care setting, or COVID test site, 1 year preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
