Job Summary: This position performs general and preventative maintenance and repair on small to medium size gasoline/diesel powered equipment including mowers, tractors and other small mechanical equipment; works from schematics; maintains service records; makes service calls. Must drive from site to site.
Required Minimum Qualifications: A high school education or GED and four years experience in this trade or a trade school certification with two years experience in this trade. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to perform those items in the Job Summary and in Essential functions. Must have the ability to use job-related tools and equipment and chemical supplies.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Must be able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice. This position will often require long days, on your feet, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. Over 8 hour days may be required based on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules. This position will be required to work during all climates of weather, hot, cold rain, etc., depending on season.
