Functions as a front desk representative both in person and over the phone in a mental health setting at Counseling and Psychiatric Services. Successful candidate will greet visitors, schedule appointments and check in/check out patients to clinic. Responsible for maintaining the flow of the front office, data entry and medical insurance verification. Duties and Responsibilities include: Greet all visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner while providing assistance and direction within the office; register and schedule patients for all necessary appointments; verify insurance coverage and authorizations for every visit; maintain patients' medical record by obtaining, updating or verifying demographic information at every visit; contribute to team atmosphere by participating in cross coverage, meetings and training as necessary; protect patients' privacy and safety by maintaining confidentiality of protected health information at all times; collaborate with providers to develop the master schedule, enter the schedule into the electronic medical record and update as needed
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; a minimum of one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a mental health office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completion of a healthcare assistant certificate or college course work in a health care related field or business or certification as a medical assistant. Extensive knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, patient scheduling software and Athena EHR. Critical decision making skills while under stress. Excellent interpersonal skills needed to interact with students, visitors and clinicians.
