The Department of Public Health Sciences is a large academic research department in the UC Davis School of Medicine. Our mission is to improve the health of people through large scale regional, national and international population-based approaches by carrying out epidemiologic, biomedical, and informatics research, educational programs, public service and policy development. The Translational Liver Cancer Epidemiology Research Program conducts multi-disciplinary research that prioritizes prevention, early detection, and pathogenesis of liver cancer. The program focus is on translating new research discoveries into pragmatic interventions across diverse populations. Our approach involves human physiology and multi-center longitudinal cohort studies, case-control studies, and clinical trials. Our team interfaces with a diverse array of research participants, including healthy volunteers, people at risk for cancer, people with liver disease, and cancer patients.

Responsibilities This is a fulltime, career position located on the UC Davis Medical Center campus in Sacramento. Under the direction of the PI and supervised by the Clinical Research Supervisor, the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) works independently to provide day-to-day coordination of research activities for assigned studies and recruits and screens study participants, conducts study visits, oversees data collection and data quality assurance, and oversees all specimen-related activities of assigned studies.
Demonstrated experience in the execution of human research protocols.
Knowledge of IRB Administration policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations and ability to monitor compliance by co-workers, interns, and/or students.
Demonstrated experience in administering transient elastography (FibroScan) and bioelectronic impedance testing, or willing to be trained.
Demonstrated experience tracking participants in electronic databases.
Excellent organizational skills to schedule and coordinate between 10-15 study visits each month.
Must be able to foster and maintain good morale among team members.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate with patients with sensitivity.
Knowledge and skill to establish appropriate work standards to achieve the highest productivity.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience handling biohazard samples.
Computer skill and experience with database programs for the effective management of research data.
Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision, following study protocol.
Must be able to prioritize tasks and assignments based on the needs of the research team and the research participants, seeking input from the Project Manager or Clinic Director when needed.
Bachelor's degree in Public Health or scinece related filed and/or equivalent experience, education, and training.
Demonstrated knowledge of the study objectives, procedures, and policies.
Must possess a valid California Driver's License (or ability to obtain one within 60 days).
Must participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
Must be flexible and available to work evening and weekend hours according to appointment scheduling needs.
IRB and HIPAA certification must be completed once hired.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
