The position of Residence Director will coordinate the administrative and programming responsibilities for University Success- East Campus, one of UHRL's in-hall academic support centers. Additionally, the individual in this position will supervise the Learning Community Assistant team.
This person will be part of the University Success team within University Housing and Residence Life. University Success provides students with a wide range of support services necessary to thrive academically at Portland State University. University Success facilitates academic engagement, intellectual connection, and collaborative learning for all students living in our residential communities.
The mission of University Housing & Residence Life (UHRL) is to improve housing options for Portland State University students while providing a unique living experience in Portland’s urban environment through actively engaged residential communities that promote student success.
- Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field. - Experience in a leadership role within Housing and Residence Life or Student Affairs. - Demonstrated experience leading a team of college students. - Ability to live in a residence hall (apartment provided). - Ability to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends) to meet residents' needs.
- Experience in professional staff on-call duty rotation. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment. - Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities are required. - Experience with Motivational Interviewing. -Experience with working with academic programs in a University setting.
