OpenStax (part of Rice University) is a non-profit textbook publisher. Our mission is to provide every student with free or low-cost access to high-quality learning materials and tools that help them succeed in their education and career. We have created a library of 40+ free and openly licensed college textbooks that have served 6.2 million students, resulting in $576 million dollars in savings.

You will join a team who is driving change at a pivotal phase of our evolution, as we deliver high quality educational content, ranging from textbooks to simulations and videos to exercises to full courses, and give educators and learners the support they need in core college and high school disciplines.

OpenStax is hiring a Product Manager for education products, reporting to the Director of Product and playing a pivotal role in the evolution of our business. At OpenStax, product development is a collaborative effort between engineering, design, and editorial/content teams. You would be joining a small team of experienced Product Managers who have a track record of building engaging and impactful product experiences.

What you'll do:
- Partner closely with leaders to define a product vision, strategy, and core milestones and key results
- Coordinate actions across the organization to establish and execute a robust roadmap
- Work closely with a high performing cross-functional team to guide product work from kick-off to ship
- Create compelling, clear design briefs and product requirement documentation for engineering and design teams, keeping the team fully engaged with the most impactful work
- Measure and synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback, confidently using data, intuition, and other relevant considerations to inform decisions
- Talk regularly with users and stakeholders to validate and inform decisions
- Responsible for achieving key outcomes you are entrusted with, providing a thread of data showing progress on goals

You may be a fit if you:
- Have 3+ years of experience in product management and a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Have a demonstrated ability to plan and create engaging, impactful product experiences as part of a cross-functional team
- Are an influential communicator who seeks to create clarity
- Have the ability to orchestrate complex projects and the skills to align people towards an objective
- Are proactive by nature, with the ability to turn ambiguous inputs into solid plans
- Are a creative product thinker who thrives in collaborative environments and is able to work effectively with engineering, design, marketing, content teams
- Skillfully use user research to inform product hypotheses and drive outcomes for the business
- Are comfortable blending quantitative and qualitative inputs to inform decisions
- Are both hands-on and strategic, with a knack for identifying the best paths to a desired result and a strong desire to move your product's key metrics
- Have experience designing/building software with desktop, mobile, and Accessibility needs
- Have humility and integrity, with a strong urge to question your assumptions and biases, learn continuously, and share lessons learned with the broader group
- Are passionate about education
