The Office of University Life was created in 2015 to develop and enhance the student experience at Columbia University. Working in collaboration with students, faculty and staff throughout the schools, we focus on strengthening resources, policies and conversations, and building community outside of the classroom. The Office has significant reach: its primary audience of 30,000 includes Columbia students (graduate and undergraduate across all schools and colleges), with secondary audiences that include faculty, staff, researchers and University leadership.
The Office is seeking a qualified and social media savvy individual to help drive the Office's communications and marketing strategy. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Social and Multimedia Specialist will set and drive a multi-year, refreshed social media strategy for the Office. This role is pivotal to supporting both promotion and awareness of University Life's programming, events and initiatives. The Social and Multimedia Specialist will also amplify events, opportunities and programming offered across the University. The Specialist will plan and share engaging, visually appealing social content aimed to engage Columbia's students. These channels collectively serve as critical communications platforms for students to access resources and find relevant information about student opportunities and core values such as diversity, equity and inclusion, sexual respect, mental health and well-being.
Additionally, the Specialist will take on social media campaigns around timely initiatives and key strategic priorities within the Office of University Life. The Social and Multimedia Specialist also has the opportunity to reimagine the ways in which the Columbia community engages on social media platforms with the Office of University Life.
