Towson University Health Center is seeking contractual healthcare professionals to staff our campus COVID-19 response team. This position will be a weekend only position, but will require onsite training during the work week. The COVID Response Specialist will be responsible for contacting any student, faculty, or staff who report COVID-like symptoms or COVID-19 contacts on their daily Symptom monitoring software. This position will also include notification and contact tracing on any positive PCR tests which are reported on the weekend.
Since the work load may vary from week to week, there is a guarantee of 4 hours paid compensation per weekend shift. Scheduled hours may be more if needed. The shift will run from 5 PM on Friday evening until 9 PM on Sunday evening.
COVID-19 Response Specialists will support University Health Center staff by: reviewing and responding to faculty, staff, and students’ daily online symptoms monitoring tool (QuickScans): engaging in email and telephone outreach to staff, students, and faculty; document communications, update files, and maintain electronic records; and assist with registration or other stations as needed. The COVID response specialist will also be responsible for checking PCR results which are reported on the weekend. The specialist will then notify all positive PCR results to faculty, staff or students and do appropriate contact tracing.
Personal protective equipment and training will be provided.
Qualified candidates must have attained their Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician’s Assistant (PA) from an accredited program.
Must be licensed in the State of Maryland.
Must be comfortable with electronic health records.
Recent graduates accepted.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
$35.00-$40.00 per hour. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire. To learn more about our benefits, click here.
