The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) is North Carolina’s only public arts conservatory, dedicated to the professional training of talented students in the performing, visual and moving image arts. UNCSA is home to more than 400 faculty and staff employees and over 1300 students. Financial Services provides quality financial information and processes to individuals and departments within UNCSA as well as external organizations and individuals.
The Budget Department, a division of Business Affairs, provides quality budget information and processes to individuals and departments within UNCSA as well as external organizations and individuals.
The Director of Budget is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the institution’s budgets. This position is responsible for monitoring the current fiscal operating and capital budgets of the institution and its units; developing short- and long-range budgetary projections; developing financial resource allocation recommendations; directing the review, analysis, and preparation of the institutions’ annual financial statements; maintaining schedules for submission of financial records to appropriate State and Federal agencies; and for other budgetary and accounting duties as appropriate and assigned.
Graduation from a 4-year accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. At least five years of progressively responsible budget management experience in a professional environment, including at least three years of supervisory experience.
Minimum Training and Experience: Graduation from a 4-year accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
Master’s Degree preferred.
At least five years of progressively responsible budget management experience in a professional environment, including at least three years of supervisory experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software – specifically Excel (with ability to design and maintain extensive spreadsheet databases)
Proficiency with SunGard Banner Finance and Human Resources Modules
Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and concise reports and other written communications in connection with budgets
Possess exceptional strategic and analytical capabilities
Possess the ability to organize work effectively, conceptualizing and prioritizing objectives and exercising independent judgement based on organizational policies and activities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons contacted in the course of work: technical, financial, managerial, non-managerial, clerical, etc.
