The School of Chemical, Biological and Ecological Engineering invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, tenure track (annual) Assistant Professor position.
The CBEE School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering provides formal education to undergraduate and graduate students, performs sponsored and unsponsored research for the benefit of the State of Oregon, private industry and the federal government, and conducts public service activities. The individual in this position is expected to perform a combination of duties related to teaching and advising in chemical engineering, advancing appropriate research and other scholarly work, and performing service activities.
Duties will support the vision, mission and goals of the School, College and University, potentially contributing to the College of Engineering signature or targeted strategic research areas of clean energy and water, advanced chemical processes, and health-related engineering. These would include, advanced materials, bioprocessing, computational methods including artificial intelligence, and any emerging area of chemical engineering.
Typically requires PhD or terminal degree (Masters for some Extension positions and MLS for Library positions), demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom Extension, or other setting, and develop a research program in the academic discipline/unit.
A PhD in chemical engineering, or closely related field AND a BS degree in chemical engineering.
Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly activities.
Demonstrated academic preparation to teach core courses in the ChE undergraduate curriculum, such as material & energy balances, transport phenomena, thermodynamics, reaction engineering, process control, unit operations, chemical process design, as well as introductory and more advanced courses in the chemical engineering undergraduate and graduate program curricula.
Proven oral and written communication skills.
