Summary of Position:
The Assistant Director conducts and supervises complex budget analyses requiring knowledge of academic and administrative plans and budgetary procedures; maintains Institutional and State data reporting; processes annual budget allocations to units; compiles various analyses; and performs other duties as required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Administration, Accounting, Economics or other business related field.
Required Work Experience:
Three years of demonstrated work experience in a progressive financial/accounting setting, or related field, preferably in higher education. Considerable interaction with groups where tact, diplomacy, and the ability to work under pressure are required.

Prepares fiscal and other analyses and reports as required.
Aids and assists in the preparation, formulation, allocation and administration of operating budgets.
Serves as principal operant and contact for HEIDI (state reporting).
Prepares and submits statistical data and annual reports in conjunction with the office of Institutional Research and Testing.
Designs and produces understandable financial schedules, worksheets, and coordinates staffing reports with Position Control in the Controller’s Office.
Maintains accurate records on the status of approved university personnel.
Works with the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, & Budget on all state reporting.
Represents the Budget Office in absence of the Director.
Examines and evaluates purpose and content of budget reports to develop new, or improve existing format, use, and control.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.
Reports directly to the Director of Budgetary Planning and Analysis.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information/data.
Responsible for the supervision of assigned staff.

Display proficiency with computers and necessary software.
Perform mathematical operations with accuracy.
Select and train assigned staff.
Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and a diverse population of university groups.
Plan, organize, and manage assigned workload.
