An Assistant Research Professor position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Carmella Evans-Molina in the Diabetes Research Program, Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research at the Indiana University School of Medicine. The candidate will be involved in developing and the implementation of innovative strategies in islet biology and diabetes research. They will conduct high caliber diabetes research and be responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting scientific data and will prepare manuscripts for publications in scholarly journals. The candidate will assist in the designing of new research projects and grant proposals, assist Dr. Evans-Molina with the submission of new manuscript proposals and grant applications. The candidate will be involved in the administration and fiscal responsibility of grant and grant accounts. The Assistant Research Professor will play a crucial role as a liaison to corporate entities that fund part of our research via investigator-initiated grants and will maintain MTA and compliance records for these efforts. They will prepare progress reports for these and other grants.
The successful candidate will be involved in the training of new staff and in the training and mentoring of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. This will include oversight at the bench, frequent meetings to monitor progress, and assistance with presentations and written documents required as part of their academic progress.

Doctorate or terminal degree required. At least 4 years of postdoctoral experience in diabetes research is required. The candidate is expected to have strong communication skills and organizing abilities. Salary is commensurate with skills and level of experience.
