The Division of Materials Science and Engineering at Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The successful candidate will work with research groups to develop quantum materials/devices and advanced electron microscopy techniques. The incumbent includes
initiate, design, and perform chemical and structural analysis of materials from the micro- to atomic-scale.
perform advanced transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies using aberration corrected scanning transmission microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy, imaging processing etc.
Help perform day-to-day oversight of activities on TEMs, including training of new users.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be expected to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date. Â
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, or related field
Demonstrated experience with aberration corrected TEM
Demonstrated experience with electron energy loss spectroscopy
Demonstrated experience with imaging processing
Demonstrated experience with semiconductor devices
