Principal Investigator, Neil Bhowmick, PhD, examines the role of tissue fibroblastic cells in cancer initiation and progression. He studies the role of the tumor microenvironment in prostate cancer progression and mediators of metastatic progression through the use of in vivo model systems. Dr. Bhowmick is currently working on candidate therapeutics to address host-tumor interactions and the development of a biomarker platform to help distinguish indolent and aggressive cancer.
The Bhowmick Lab is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist will work independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, the Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period in the field of cancer biology. More specifically, the project involves the role of cholesterol in prostate cancer progression. May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Responsible for designing experiments, assembeling data for publications and presentations as author or co-author.
In addition, the Postdoctoral Scientist will be responsible for:
* Expected to submit for own fellowship funding, but is not responsible for generating grant funds. * Responsible for the design of experiments in cooperation with the mentor. * Responsible for compiling figures and text for the submission of publications and presentations as author or co-author. * Designs and performs experiments.
