Perform routine work in cleaning and general upkeep; including offices, halls, conference rooms, classrooms, restrooms, locker and shower rooms. Scrub, strip, refinish and polish floors using heavy industrial-type powered scrubbing and buffing machines. Vacuum and clean carpets using industrial-type vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors. Mix cleaning solution per instruction. Collect and dispose of refuse requiring heavy physical efforts. Remove snow and ice from steps of immediate building area(s). Move objects weighing 50 pounds and occasionally more while moving furniture or setting up tables and chairs for special events. A criminal history background check and pre-placement physical will be conducted.
Temporary employees may be appointed for a period of up to two years. Those appointed for more than six months are eligible for benefits from the beginning of the appointment, provided the position is half-time (.50FTE) or greater. Those appointed for six months or less are not eligible for benefits. Benefits for eligible temporary employees include the following: health, dental, and life insurance, sick and vacation leave, injury leave, civil leave, and military leave.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Eighth grade education required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary. Must have the ability to understand cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios. Ability to gain knowledge and skill to operate large cleaning equipment necessary. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Previous custodial experience preferred.
