Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer for the Office of Information Technology-Enterprise Application Services (OIT-EAS). Reporting to the Associate Director of Messaging and Collaboration Services (MaCS) within OIT-EAS, this position serves as a technical resource and a service administrator for the ServiceNow system. The position works closely with staff in OIT, EAS and particularly MaCS and all stakeholders/departments (particularly UHR) to understand business needs and applicable policies, to assist with designing, developing, configuring, coding, implementing, managing and maintaining solutions that meet these needs, as well as working on requests, new story implementation, incidents, integrations and other aspects of ServiceNow used by UHR OneSource.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists with maintaining the overall service, keeping it stable, usable and reliable, handling problems as they arise, and general service.
Handles upgrades and enhancements of the system, monitors the service health and usage, and provides a secure environment.
Provides some level of documentation, report generation and training, as well as having a high level of communications with OIT staff, management, and stakeholders.
Works very closely, as a team, with the other ServiceNow staff that are part of MaCS.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skills in service administration and/or development/coding skills needed.
Strong skills in problem identification and resolution, working well in a collaborative team environment, keeping others clearly informed, as well as skills in efficiency, organization, excellent decision making, communications, training and documentation are required.
Knowledge of cloud computing architectures, enterprise application architecture, IT help desk procedures, security, and integration with other applications expected.
Knowledge of scripting/coding as needed by a service administrator, including working with 3rd party apps, integration, APIs, web apps, network, and various protocols.
Knowledge of service administration of ServiceNow or similar service management platforms, using tools or administration consoles would be very helpful.
Ability to assist with dealing with various vendors and their technical staff is also preferred.
Ability to work with local departmental IT staff and business owners and help guide them.
Ability to work on multiple changing priorities (multi-tasking).
Experience in working in a University environment is also preferred.
Overall IT knowledge should be strong.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Services must be up and running in production 24×7. In case of issues or outages, additional work hours may be needed.
