Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is currently seeking a highly motivated Dental Assistant II for the Office for Clinical Affairs.
The Dental Assistant II performs work related to the care, sterilization, packing, and disbursement of equipment and supplies.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Serves as a Sterilization Assistant, operates and monitors washer/disinfectors, steam autoclaves, sonic washers, and other sterilization equipment.
Maintains all aspects of sterilization procedures related to dental instruments and supplies associated with patient care within the various clinical operations.
Performs monitoring tests on units. Maintains records of quality assurance procedures, loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed.
Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Follows standard precautions insuring and maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, and time efficient working environment by adhering to RSDM infection control policy and complying with federal, state, and departmental protocols.
Maintains inventory of supplies, loaned instruments and equipment according to departmental policy. Restocks equipment and supplies in the dispensary and clinic reporting depleted items following the established procedure.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of dental terminology, decontamination, sterilization, assembly, packing and monitoring of instrumentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi task and prioritize assigned work.
Three (3) years of experience in a dental setting with a combination of dental assisting and sterile processing.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must have the ability to lift/push/pull greater than 50 pounds.
