Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking 7 highly motivated Student Assistants at the Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies.
Funded by the Truth Initiative, we are looking for students with leadership skills to help develop and lead engagement, advocacy, and educational activities which will inform and organize their peers and build a movement to become a tobacco-free campus.
This is a 12-18 month appointment and the time commitment is approximately 10 hours per week. Students must be enrolled at Rutgers University for the duration of the appointment. 2 students will be hired from the Newark campus, 2 will be hired from the New Brunswick campus, 2 will be hired from the Camden campus, and 1 student will be hired from RBHS.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As directed, performs various research functions relative to the ongoing activities of the Center including literature searches, Attends mandatory training.
Engages advocacy activities – which may include social media campaigns and/or partnering with an existing campus event to support a tobacco free movement.
Enlists and recruits student volunteers to support initiatives and activities.
Organizes and hosts two town hall meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Rutgers University student.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High degree of emotional intelligence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Extremely experienced with all Social Media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
Previous experience in advocacy work.
Familiarity with the Truth Initiative.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
This is 100% remote.
May include driving.
