Protecting the health and safety of our communities -- including our teams and of those considering employment at Indiana University, is a top priority. While we're putting our employee health and safety first with socially distanced office cubicles, and random mitigation testing, we're looking for Custodians to keep buildings and facilities in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing refuse. Follow established schedules, and using prescribed methods, procedures, equipment, and materials. Perform routine light maintenance activities, notifies management of need for repairs. Clear sidewalks, drives, and adjacent areas. Shovel snow. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
General knowledge at the high school level.
Ability to learn and utilize proper cleaning procedures and equipment. Ability to make judgment decisions and calculations for mixing chemicals, and understand basic maintenance of floor/carpet care. Ability to follow instructions, use computer, and perform work in a safe and efficient manner, especially in areas of biohazard and/or hazardous waste cleanup. Ability to work in team environment and to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people.
Previous custodial experience.
Working Conditions / Demands
Ability to work 2nd and/or 3rd shift.
Covid considerations: face mask and gloves must be worn while working. The department will provide employees with the appropriate PPE.
$13.95/hr pay rate. Also $0.50 differential for eligible shifts (work six (6) or more hours between 3:00PM and 8:00AM).
