The Medical Education Office (MEO) provides oversight to the M.D. program's design, implementation of the curriculum and assessments. The Program Manager provides general oversight of the Academy of Medical Educators (AME) program, the operations of the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program and supports curricular design initiatives. The program manager will serve as the primary BUSM liaison for VSLO that allows medical students worldwide to undertake electives within the VSLO consortium. BUSM serves mainly as a host school whereby approximately 40-50 international students undertake clinical electives at BUSM annually.
Responsibilities: Manages and acts as administrative contact for the AME, Instructional Design and VSLO programs and ensures continuity across courses and programs.
AME & Curricular Design duties:
Manages 39 AME faculty 4-year program.
Oversees AME direct observation of third year students and clinical coaching program.
Manages the Instructional Design 4 th year elective.
Collaborates with Assistant Deans to prepare communications and course materials.
Proposes quality improvement initiatives in administration and information delivery.
Supports curriculum redesign initiatives.
Manages schedules, meetings and workshops.
Creates PowerPoint presentations including tables and graphs and Qualtrics surveys.
Ensures accurate documentation of student assessment and performance & grade submission
planning for and execution of 2022 enrichment weeks curriculum (new)
manage calendar for the Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Instructional Design; in particular, scheduling medical students and faculty
Accepts, processes, and schedules international medical students for placement in clinical electives at BUSM.
Works with Boston Medical Center (BMC) for placement of students in electives.
Handles student inquiries who are interested in curriculum activities.
Processes reimbursements for medical students and faculty members.
Ensures that all BUSM/BMC requirements are met by students before and during their stay at the medical center (computer training, IDs, safety training, etc)
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5-8 years of experience
Demonstrate critical thinking to solve issues and provide recommended solutions for resolution.
Self-starter with the ability to be proactive and work independently
Comfortable working in a team environment collaborating with coworkers and other staff throughout the school
Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities at the same time effectively
Effective communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to demonstrate customer service skills
Comfortable learning new software programs and technology
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Interest in higher education and international programs
