The Department of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California San Francisco seeks to hire a part-time individual at the Adjunct Assistant Professor level to conduct speech science research. The position may increase to full-time, dependent on funding.
The selected candidate will be expected to conduct research work involving the development and implementation of models and experiments that address questions concerning the production and control of speech and natural language processing. As an independent investigator, the candidate will: (1) design and perform computational simulations of speech production and control processes (2) develop and implement new approaches to monitoring and analyzing speech production; (3) develop systems/procedures for eliciting spoken responses for subsequent speech analysis; (4) provide scientific oversight of the projects including review and advice on experimental design, data interpretation, and long-term planning to her or his team and colleagues; (5) write manuscripts for publication in peer-review journals; and (6) pursue independent funding.
Candidate must have a PhD related to speech production research. Experience with modeling speech production and natural language processing is preferred.
