Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Facilities Specialist for the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience (CBN). This position maintains equipment in the HGINJ and CBN microscopy core facilities. These duties include maintaining microscope and associated equipment, training users, scheduling users and performing billing of equipment usage.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Upkeep of CBN core facility equipment maintenance.
Training and assisting CBN core facility users on equipment and analysis software.
Scheduling CBN core facility use.
Billing for CBN core facility use.
Upkeep of HGINJ core facility equipment maintenance.
Training and assisting HGINJ core facility users on equipment and analysis software.
Scheduling HGINJ core facility use.
Billing for HGINJ core facility use.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding in basic and advanced fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.
Must work well in a team environment
Basic understanding of fluorescence and brightfield microscopy.
Previous experience with confocal microscopy high content microscopy, STED acquisition and analysis is preferred.
Leica STED and SP8, Zeiss LSM 800 and 510M confocals and InCell 6000 microscopes. IMARIS imaging software
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Some physical demands for moving small pieces of equipment or changing nitrogen tanks for the air tables are required.
