Available postdoctoral position in “Cancer Immunology / Chemical Immunology� at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School in Dr. Rashidian lab 

Our lab is focused on understanding the underlying mechanisms of how the tumor microenvironment is shaped and is changed in response to cancer immunotherapies. Furthermore, the lab aims to develop new and improved diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic tools to detect, diagnose, treat, and prevent cancer. The lab is currently seeking to hire a highly motivated individual nearing completion of his/her Ph.D., or interested in having a second postdoc, and available to start at summer/fall of 2021. Prospective candidates with the following skillsets are encouraged to apply: immunology, nanomedicine, molecular biology, chemical biology, and biochemistry. Our lab is highly collaborative, and the postdoc will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with a diverse group of scientists including immunologists, molecular biologists, and chemists. The compensation will be very competitive while also affording opportunities to be a co-author on several basic science and translational manuscripts. 

Additional Information: 

The lab’s research interests lie in understanding how the immune system responds to cancer and cancer treatment, the possibility to reshape the tumor microenvironment to a more anti-tumor status, and developing the requisite tools to make this possible. We are also interested in developing precision therapeutics for autoimmune disease. In this effort, the lab bridges knowledge of cancer immunology and chemical biology, a unique combination. 

The lab uses techniques, such as synthetic biology, protein engineering, noninvasive immuno-PET imaging, two-photon microscopy, flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing, organic chemistry, and peptide synthesis to tackle the issues.  

Trainees will have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation throughout the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School, as well as resources available through collaborations at the Boston area including MIT and the Koch Institute.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS: 

• Strong publication track record 
• A doctoral degree in Immunology, Molecular biology, Chemical Biology, or a similar field. 
• Personal capabilities: Creative thinking, ability to work independently, willingness to learn new skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are expected. Priority goes to highly motivated and organized individuals committed to doing impactful research, with great attention to detail and excellent organization and team-work skills. 
• Excellent writing skills for article writing 
• Phd or MD
