Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume) :
Doctoral Degree or foreign equivalent degree in experimental quantum physics by June 2021, with experience in quantum optics, x-ray quantum entanglement, non-linear media, data analysis and simulation.
Preferred Qualifications: . Experience in x-ray quantum imaging at synchrotron light sources, X-ray parametric down conversion, type I and type II X-ray Ghost imaging and image reconstruction
Brief Description of Duties:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform research in collaboration with Prof DaVia, Prof. Figueroa and Dr Andrei Nomerotski (co-supervisors) on state of the art optical and X-Ray quantum imaging. Experiments will be carried out at BNL within the Quantum Enhanced X-ray Microscope project to perform low dose- high resolution imaging of biological samples. Experiments will be carried out on the lab and on the NSLS-II - X-ray beam line at BNL and will include Type I and Type II Ghost Imaging. In particular studies will be performed to identify novel non-linear materials for efficient X-Ray parametric down conversion. The incumbent would also participate in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students on research projects.
Perform research in quantum imaging in collaboration with the Enhanced Quantum X-Ray Microscope team. In particular, the candidate will be expected to investigate, by means of experimental evaluation the properties of state of the art and novel non-linear materials for highly efficient x-ray entangled parametric down conversion. The candidate is expected to be familiar with the theory and the experimental aspects of quantum imaging and in particular quantum entanglement.
Creatively generate new ideas to approach research topics to explore; develop and implement numerical methods which allow to quantify those ideas and make theoretical predictions which can guide future observations.
Assist PI with preparation and submission of applications for external research funding, progress reports to sponsors, publications.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the research group.
