The Research Assistant 2 will assist with immunohistochemistry experiments for projects in the Coussens lab.
The duties of this position include:
Conduct immunohistochemistry (IHC) studies
Prepare samples for IHC. Perform IHC technology and associated analysis
Prepare results and present those to investigators
Assist in experimental design and planning
Keep laboratory in good working order; maintain supplies; prepare stock histological solutions; keep complete and accurate records
Bachelor's Degree with major courses in field of research / No Experience; OR Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
Organizational skills, MS Office competency
Interest in immunology/cancer research and read relevant literature
Must be willing to perform all of the IHC techniques, with training
Skills in handling laboratory specimens, record keeping, and laboratory equipment; ability to identify cells and cell morphology at the light microscopic levels; use several different computer systems
Ability to work independently within established guidelines, use good judgment in making decisions, communicate and work effectively as part of a team
Ability to work and interact with a variety of scientists and staff
Good dexterity and attention to details
Masters Degree in biological sciences
3 years of laboratory experience in IHC, or certification as a histotechnologist
Experience with immunocytochemistry
