Essential duties and responsibilities of the job include:
Serving as Academic Advisor to MPH students, advising students on academic/curriculum matters
Assisting students with registration, overrides, plans of study
Assisting the department in curriculum matters, enrollment projections and concentrations
Introducing students and prospective students to the MPH Program
Assisting with student recruitment and accreditation efforts
The successful candidate will have a master's degree in public health, public health administration, or counseling/advising for graduate students. Experience in graduate student advising, especially in an on-line environment are important to be a successful candidate for this position. Academic advising for student advancement through the MPH curriculum of 43 credit hours is core to this position. Advising students on construction and maintenance of their plan of study from program acceptance through graduation is essential. Annual reviews of academic progress with all assigned students, per graduate school requirements, will be conducted.
This position will be located at the College of Human Medicine's Flint Campus. Occasional travel to the East Lansing campus will be required.

Masters -Public Health and related disciplines
This position requires a Master’s degree in public health or related disciplines or equivalent post-baccalaureate experience working with graduate students. Three to five years of experience advising college/university students. A Master's degree in advising/counseling is helpful but not essential. Must be able to interpret and implement academic policies and procedures; competency in the use of university technologies; demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills are a must. Familiarity with University policies and procedures, especially those of the MSU Graduate School are essential. The ability to query and display data is helpful but not essential.
Experience working within a university setting; the successful candidate will have a master's degree in public health, public health administration, or counseling/advising for graduate students.
