Greenville Technical College invites applications and nominations for the position of vice president for Learning and Workforce Development. This position serves as the chief academic officer for the college. Greenville Technical College seeks an exceptional leader with a strong record of academic accomplishment and a forward-looking vision to serve in this key leadership position. The new vice president will have the opportunity to join an accomplished and collaborative academic leadership team to advance the strategic direction of the college.

Responsibilities of the Vice President for Learning & Workforce Development include the following:

• Promote and sustain a rigorous, compassionate, and learning-centered environment that supports student success in both credit and non-credit areas through collaborative decision making and strategic planning.
• Supervise 7 academic deans, associate VPs of EDCT and curriculum & compliance, director of dual enrollment and early college, director of academic administration and the executive assistant to the vice president.
• Actively participate in economic development recruitment activities with the Greenville Area Development Corporation, Upstate SC Alliance and the SC Department of Commerce when requested.
• Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet to plan and establish strategic goals/achievement indicators and implement programs and services that maintain the college’s programmatic accreditation compliance.
• Collaborate with business and industry and the chief academic officers of area institutions, transfer institutions, school districts, government agencies and other community organizations to promote academic partnerships, scholarships, and resources.
• Represent GTC, as required, by participating in appropriate national, state, and local councils, committees, boards and organizations.
• Work collaboratively with the associate VPs, deans and other cabinet members to recommend academic policies and procedures and participate in the planning, development, physical and technological infrastructure, and fundraising (w/GTC’s Foundation).
• Actively participate in internal and external communication and design of the state-of-the-art facilities that support effective teaching and learning and sustain a rigorous academic program that includes learning communities and service learning.
• Support professional growth and development for all employees and coordinate such efforts with the VPs of student services and human resources.
• Lead college initiatives related to students’ success and liaise with Faculty Senate and its officers, while working collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research to obtain data that is relevant to move the institution forward.
• Oversee the administration of the overall academic affairs and economic development & corporate training budget.
• Assure college policies and procedures governing academic and economic development & corporate training issues enhance the learning environment and reflect current needs and appropriate practices.

Division Overview

The division of Learning and Workforce Development is the largest division at Greenville Technical College. It is made up of 7 academic schools: School of Academic Advancement, School of Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Technology, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Aviation, Construction, and Transportation Technologies, School of Business and Computer Technology, School of Education and Professional Studies, and the School of Health Sciences. Combined, these academic schools offer a bachelor of applied science degree, associate of applied science degrees, associate of arts, associate of science, diplomas and certificate programs in fully online, hybrid and traditional course offerings. Programs are offered on six campuses within the county and three special centers. The division has over 320 full-time faculty, 75 plus full-time staff members and an additional 400 adjunct faculty members.

The division also consists of non-credit training offered through the Economic Development and Corporate Training (EDCT) unit. This division is made up of five departments and offers non-credit programs in the areas of business/leadership, skilled trades, personal and professional enrichment, healthcare, and environmental health & occupational safety. The division also has a full-time business development team and a records and registration team. Over 30 full-time faculty and staff members and 75 adjuncts serve in this area. Programs and services are offered on all campuses and online. Annually, the division provides training for over 8,200 individuals and corporate training for over 400 companies.
