The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is looking for a Medical Director to lead development of a complex care service for patients with medical complexity at Children's of Alabama, spanning the inpatient and outpatient environments. This position will be responsible for strategic planning, operational leadership and continuous improvement in providing culturally competent care to children with complex health care needs.
We envision that our complex care service will focus on providing highly collaborative care in the inpatient environment as well as outpatient care as a Complex Care Medical Home. This is an exciting opportunity to significantly improve the quality of life of patients and their families while at the same time reducing unnecessary health care utilization.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills with experience in change management and a proven track record of highly collaborative, effective communication in working with diverse populations and care providers. The preferred candidate would have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in the care of medically complex children. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of AL and be Board eligible or Board certified in Pediatrics. Academic rank/Tenure will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
