The Department of Transmedia within the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in Film, beginning Fall 2021. This position comes with a 3-year contract, which is renewable based on performance and University need. We are seeking a filmmaker to join our well-established and respected film program offering both BFA and MFA degrees in Film. Our film program promotes an independent and artistic filmmaker ethos. We are therefore looking for someone who is fully informed about all aspects of film production. For this position we are seeking filmmakers working in any area or mode of filmmaking, making interesting and thought-provoking work, with a strong exhibition history. Experience teaching fiction filmmaking and/or sound is preferred. This faculty member will bring production expertise and help design new courses based on their own research and practice, as well as teaching courses based on our programmatic and curricular needs. We look forward to our new faculty member sharing their unique vision with the program and department. For service, the faculty member will participate in committees in the department, college, and/or university and help with student advising, student learning outcomes and assessment, student recruitment, and community engagement.
