JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Division Chief of Transplant Surgery, this position works with clinical personnel to coordinate care for patients enrolled in IRB clinical research trials in transplantation. Specifically, this position plans and evaluates processes to improve and advance clinical research with the department and ensures documentation for the clinical trial is complete and accurate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages day-to-day research operations and establishes specific work goals for quantitative and qualitative standards.
Serves as clinical liaison for patients, physicians, nurses, data collectors, evaluators, etc.
Screens and determines eligibility and recruitment of patients selected.
Interprets and communicates inclusion/exclusion criteria for research studies assigned to personnel involved in patient recruitment.
Oversees the interview process and review of medical records to determine if patients meet the criteria for enrollment.
Maintains compliance and the accuracy of records, forms, and regulatory documents.
Supervises protocol changes, distributes information, and meets with Principal and Co-Investigators, as necessary.
Prepares protocols for submission to the UT IRB for initial and ongoing reviews.
Ensures study participants are safe and fully informed.
Obtains informed consent forms from selected patients.
Ensures strict adherence to consenting guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
