Under general supervision to perform and to be responsible for skilled gardening.
The normal work schedule for this position is Wednesday – Sunday, from 6am – 2:30pm.
1. Perform all duties peculiar to, and normally required in the trade of groundskeeper, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work. 2. Maintain grounds and shrubbery. 3. Planting, cultivating and care for vegetables, fruits, flowers, lawn, shrubs and trees. 4. Operate snow removal equipment. 5. Operate gardening equipment . 6. Operate tools associated with gardening and gardening equipment. 7. Keep all storm drain inlets clear of leaves and debris. 8. Inspect and keep rain gutters, down spouts, catch basins clear of all debris. 9. Upkeep of tennis courts, athletic fields, parking lots, fences and sodded playing fields which includes cleaning, lining and painting. 10. Police campus and dispose of refuse. 11. Perform all classification related duties as assigned.
1. Knowledge and care of gardens, lawns, shrubs and trees. 2. Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in gardening, greenhouses, experimental plot, maintenance and equipment. 3. Knowledge of characteristics of plant life. 4. One year experience as grounds gardener. 5. Training in horticulture. 6. Must have a valid driver’s license.
