Instructor or Assistant Professor/Pediatric Neurology Nurse Practitioner, Memphis - 20000001DX
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in the College of Nursing is accepting applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor/Pediatric Neurology Nurse Practitioner. This is a full-time, non-tenure position. Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.
Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, which includes: Planning and directing the delivery of healthcare to the pediatric patient population with various neurological conditions in the inpatient setting. The incumbent will provide care and health education for patients and their families. In addition, 5% educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in the neurology division according to approved protocols and acceptable standards.
Performing necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician. Participating in the design and revision of protocols.
Collaborating with Medical Physician and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Making referrals as appropriate.
Recognizing and reacting appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
Developing strong partnership with patients, family members, fellow physicians/nurses, and support staff. Focusing on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
Inpatient position, involving managing the care of children with new and ongoing neurological disorders, developing education plans for families, and ordering appropriate consultation and referrals when indicated.
Variable based on the needs of the division.
Earned Master's degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
