The University of California, Davis, Department of Neurology, is recruiting a full-time neuroscientist in translational epilepsy research. This faculty position is open at the Associate professor level in the Adjunct, In-Residence or Ladder Rank/tenure track series commensurate with credentials.
Applications are encouraged from candidates with a strong background in translational epilepsy research, including expertise in:
preclinical development of antiepileptogenic and disease modifying therapies for epilepsy
mouse and rat models of acquired epilepsy
continuous, prolonged video-EEG recording and interpretation in mice and rats
pre-clinical studies of molecular and cellular mechanisms of epileptogenesis
pre-clinical studies of molecular mechanisms mediating aberrant synaptic plasticity in epilepsy and cognitive co-morbidities
The successful candidate will be expected to effectively interface with physicians and scientists, participate in collaborations within the UC Davis research community, engage in teaching and service activities to promote the success of underrepresented and marginalized student communities, and ultimately build new translational epilepsy research programs.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess an PhD or equivalent in a biomedical science-related discipline awarded by the time of hire. In addition, candidates must have:
A record of research creativity, independence, and productivity.
Expertise in preclinical models of epilepsy, studies of molecular mechanisms of epilepsy, epileptogenesis and cognitive co-morbidities, mouse and rat models of acquired epilepsy, and preclinical development of antiepileptogenic and disease modifying therapies for epilepsy.
A strong record of and demonstrable commitment to teaching, scholarship and service that will promote the success of historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities.
A strong record of and demonstrable commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion for students, trainees, staff and faculty.
Evidence of prior success in obtaining Federally funded grants and/or contracts.
Experience or ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment to promote inclusive excellence.
Experience or ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
