The department of Black Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin 9/16/2021. We seek applicants who focus on critical theory and intersectionality in Black and Africana Studies. We especially invite applications with research and teaching expertise in the following areas: Africana and diasporic history, African postcolonial movements, Black Marxism, Black sexuality, Afro-pessimism, and Black cultural and performance studies. Community-engaged scholars are strongly encouraged to apply.
Please note: This recruitment will be used to fill 2 vacancies within the department of Black Studies: one (1) Assistant Professor and one (1) Assistant or Associate Professor.
A PhD or terminal degree in Black or Africana Studies, or with a heavy concentration in Black Studies.
Research and teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas: Africana and diasporic history, African postcolonial movements, Black sexuality, Black Marxism, Afro-pessimism, Black cultural and performance studies, and community-engaged scholarship.
