The Division of Arthritis of Arthritis & Rheumatic Diseasesprovides care for patients with inflammatory diseases that include rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, scleroderma, myositis, and polymyalgia rheumatica.They also see patients with diseases such as osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.
A Research Associate position is available for a highly motivated candidate to contribute to our program, and to receive training and mentorship in the field of experimental arthritis. To work on experimental arthritis using cutting edge technology including CAR T cells, cDNA vaccine, and virus vectored vaccine against synovial fibroblasts. Responsible for independently performing experiments with only occasional supervision, data analysis and preparation for publications, and assists in planning experimental design and/or designing research standard operating procedures.
The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, and will be expected to present research findings at scientific conferences, compose manuscripts, and assist in experimental design. Exercises judgment in taking independent action, and seeks advice as necessary. Assists in planning experimental design and/or designing research standard operating procedures (SOPs). Assumes responsibility for specific components of research project. Demonstrates creativity and problem solving ability. Responsibility for training and supervising students and junior staff.
Master's Degree with major courses in a relevant field AND
Three (3)years of relevant experiencewith major coursesin molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology. OR
Bachelors Degree with major courses in the field of research (or RN or allied health professional) and five (5) years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of molecular biology techniques including plasmid preparation, subcloning, transfection of cDNA.
Master's Degree in molecular biology and/or immunology.
Three (3) or more years of relevant experience.
