1.Receives and transmits emergency and non-emergency calls. 2.Operates a two-way radio to receive and transmit messages. 3.Issues parking permits and college identification cards. 4.Monitors and assists with coordinating departmental activities and schedules. 5.Operates, maintains, and validates data in local, state, national, and international computerized criminal justice data bases (NC DCI, NCIC, NCAWARE). 6.Solicits informational responses, coordinates and communicates responses and monitors on-going activities to upgrade information received by police or security units as well as to enhance officer safety. 7.Organizes, catalogs, and maintains departmental files and records. 8.Performs collateral duties and special assignments at the direction or request of department supervisors. 9.Operates and provides first-line maintenance and performs preliminary diagnostics on all telecommunications and office equipment located in the dispatch area. 10.Provides training for new telecommunicators, officers, and other departmental personnel. 11.Exercises discretion in a manner consistent with departmental policy and procedures. 8.Responsible to and accountable for compliance with departmental and College orders, policies and procedures. 9.Interprets and carries out written and oral instructions. 10.Interprets and applies laws, rules, or regulations, appropriately. 11.Prepares routine correspondence, documentation, and reports. 12.Performs duties in a professional manner while responding to inquiries from the College's and broader community. 13.Professionally manages communications and relationships with public service officials and the general public.
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid North Carolina driver's license. Current Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Certification or must attain certification within three months of employment.
