The Research Technologist 2 conducts experimental research lab work. Assists in design of one or more specific phase(s) of entire project(s). Completes mathematical calculations, &/or computer tasks &/or assists in judging validity of data. Follows appropriate protocols, policies, procedures, regulations, Good Clinical & Good Laboratory Practices.
Northwestern University has an opening for a Research Technologist 2 in a Cancer biology and cancer immunology lab. Duties include management of mouse colonies, process of human blood samples, performing IHC and ELISA, cell culture, and ordering general lab supplies
Following protocols, designs, sets-up & conducts basic experiments.
Mice breeding, genotyping, and record management
Tracks & summarizes lab supply expenses.
Verifies accuracy of invoices.
Orders &/or maintains inventory of reagent, mice &/or lab supplies.
Human blood sample processing
Analyzes & troubleshoots protocols & data obtained from individual experiments & recommends alternatives & suggestions to improve processes, validity &/or accuracy.
Defined lab tests, e.g. IHC, ELISA etc
Plasmid construction and transfection
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Must have good computer skills, good communication skills, good organization skills
Experience with mouse colony management and overseeing lab operations
Experience with molecular biology
