Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Johns Hopkins Applied Mental Health Research Group is seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator to serve as a Coordinator for a new project focused on the scale up and sustainability of an evidenced based transdiagnostic mental health intervention, Common Elements Treatment Approach (CETA), in Zambia. The Coordinator will work closely with the JHU AMHR team as well as the local Zambian CDC office, Zambian Ministry of Health and the Center for Infectious Disease Research Zambia (CIDRZ) to assist in the implementation and scale up of CETA within existing HIV programs.
This position will be based under the department of Mental Health and will report to several mental health faculty members. This position will work together with the AMHR team to coordinate the activities in the field and provide guidance and capacity building. Job responsibilities will include assisting in managing budgets, timelines and meeting of project milestones. This position offers tremendous growth potential.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Serving as a Coordinator for the national scale up and integration of CETA into existing HIV treatment and care infrastructure in Zambia. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Work with the local CIDRZ team to provide guidance for the Zambia Ministry of Health District Health offices and appointed local CETA coordinators to who will be implementing the CETA intervention.
Assisting with drafting M&E plans for each site (plan for assessing key indicators, adaptation of assessments, development of databases).
Creating and maintaining documents related to the project coordination (standard operating policies and procedures,safety protocols and tracking logs).
Provide guidance on management of local budgets and assist with managing the JHU budget.
Managing project timelines for individual sites, as well as completion of milestones across the mental health portfolio.
Providing training on instruments, confidentiality, informed consent, recruitment procedures, and program protocol for local teams.
Assiting with reporting requirements to funding agencies and local authorities.
Conducting weekly conference calls and daily individual phone calls with project team members to monitor progress.
Working with the project technical leads and local supervisors on other administrative tasks.
Speaking to the team and checking through all databases to ensure accurate program monitoring, technical assistance and quality assurance.
Representing the AMHR team at national conferences.
Assisting with program planning and publication writing.
Assisting with preparation and writing of federally- and foundation-funded grants.
Assisting with preparation of presentations for conferences and writing of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
Assisting with data management and program evaluation.
Cleaning and coding of quantitative and qualitative data.
Conducting preliminary statistical and qualitative data analysis collaboratively with local partners.
Preparing of preliminary program evaluation reports, including creation of tables, charts, and graphs to summarize data.
Work closely with Mental Health Faculty on culture and strengths-based mental health projects
Maintaining knowledge of and involvement with all of AMHR’s behavioral health, infectious disease and training projects.
Assisting with the JHU teams other programmatic duties on occasion as they arise.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline. 3 years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula:
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *
Masters in Public Health, Masters in Program Management, or related field (i.e., psychology)
Strong preference for those who have worked in Africa, internationally or HIV affected populations in previous work and or research.
