The Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. The Research Data Management Analyst is responsible for data collection and management and analyzing and summarizing data for large data sets as well as current and future studies conducted by faculty in the Health Systems Science department within the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. Many of these studies will focus heavily on Kaiser Permanente data resources and systems, which will require the Analyst to be intimately familiar with accessing, cleaning, and managing this data. In addition, the Research Data Management Analyst will provide guidance regarding study design and methodology as well as input regarding appropriate statistical measure selection.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection and Data Management
  • Determines the most efficient approach to data collection and validation and works independently to obtain needed data from KP information systems based on project or task data requirements.
  • Creates, cleans and manipulates databases relevant to existing and future HSS projects.
  • Catalogs existing variables and create new variables from existing databases as needed and maintains appropriate codebooks.
  • Design and Conduct of Statistical Analysis
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing data collection and analysis plans for existing and future research studies.
  • Determines and implements appropriate measurement and analytical methods to achieve specified analytical project or tasks objectives.
  • Implements specified quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of project data, results, written reports, and presentation materials.
  • Identifies and resolves data quality issues, as required.
  • Cleans data collected in research studies and performs statistical analyses on the data.
  • Determines the most informative approaches to summarizing data and communicating analytical results.
  • Designs and creates written reports and presentation materials describing project objectives, methods, data, and results.
 
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years work experience in basic and multivariate statistics or related.
Education
  • Master's degree in biostatistics or related fields.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
 
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge in relevant scientific field.
  • Knowledge of research techniques or methods.
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in English.
  • Ability to create formal statistical analysis plans for research studies.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years work experience in related field.
  • Experience with analysis of large administrative databases and computer-intensive statistical analysis, multivariate statistical methods, general research methodology.
  • Experience with Kaiser Permanente data systems and the ability to pull, manage, and analyze KP data from multiple regions.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written and verbal communication of technical material.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working as a member of a technical project team on complex projects.
