Under the guidance of Joan Donovan, Research Director of the Shorenstein Center, this TaSC Administrator position supports the work of the Technology and Social Change Research Project. The activities will include support of research and program activities focused on the unintended effects of technological innovation on society. The position will consist of three major work areas: administrative support of research, supervision of students and research assistants, and budget oversight.
The tasks include but are not limited to:
Assist with draft proposals including editing, drafting budgets and monitoring deliverables post award
Map what others in the field are doing and use this to determine how we continue to build the program with value added to the work already being done
Manage the activities of the researchers in collaboration with the Director, such as developing an outline of requirements, curriculum and expected outputs
Provide support to both the Director and researchers as needed, including helping with any related planning of events and communications with HKS and press
Manage the Director's schedule and maintain the administrative files for the research team, including outside contractors
Manage all programmatic activities such as talks, presentations, panels, conferences, symposiums, with the support of the event staff at Shorenstein Center on reserving space, booking hotels, travel, catering and working on marketing, publicity etc.
Prepare briefs for the Director, staying on top of current trends in research on media manipulation and disinformation, research and writings and use this information to develop our own research agenda, program activities, and further expand the initiative by identifying potential collaborators
This position is a benefits eligible term appointment ending one year from the start date, with possibility of renewal.
