The Operations Specialist position is a member of the College of Education (COE) Finance Team (in the Dean’s Office), providing administrative support to the COE's operations. Duties include, but are not limited to, supporting human resources (HR), finance, and operations. The position provides direct support to the Department Chairs, Directors, faculty, and staff daily, which often involves diverse interests, multiple stakeholders, varying practices, and a range of possible solutions while collaborating with college staff, as well as central offices such as University Financial Services and Human Resources to resolve the complex problems and implement new procedures related to HR and operations.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in human resources and operations, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to organize and prioritize their own work.
Work is performed under the leadership of the Senior Fiscal Officer.
●Experience with Human Resources (e.g. recruitment, hiring, payroll, onboarding. ●Proven ability/experience working independently and as part of a team. ●Ability to complete and organize tasks, meet deadlines and follow-through on tasks independently. ●Must be able to work independently yet have work reviewed by supervisor as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness. ●Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial and personnel records and information. ●Must be able to multi-task and solve problems creatively. ●Ability to interpret, apply, and effectively communicate regulations, laws, policies and procedures. ●Demonstrated ability to perform very detailed work with a high level of accuracy. ●Computer skills at intermediate to advanced levels using MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) Google Apps (calendar, email, shared documents, etc.)
●Experience with Banner or other enterprise-wide software. ●Familiar with Union Collective Bargaining. ●HR experience and PHR Certification.
