The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for the Academic Partnerships Chair in Online Learning and Innovation. This position is with tenure at the level of full Professor, beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. UTA is one of the nation's fastest-growing public research universities with approximately 60,000 students, more than 24,000 of whom are fully-online. Online learning is a central component in UTA's mission of providing lifelong learning through its academic and professional education programs to increasingly digital and globally-connected learners in the 21st Century.
Demonstrated recognition and excellence in research, effective teaching and an established national record for external research funding are essential. Duties will include conducting scholarly research, teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, interdepartmental collaboration, department and university service and service to the profession. In addition to an already-established network of research colleagues, successful candidates will be expected to develop close collaborations with other faculty at UTA in allied research areas. Successful candidates are also expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
The minimum qualification is an earned Ph.D. in the candidate's respective field and an internationally-recognized record of scholarship and research in the area of online learning and innovation appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of full professor.
Professional Experience, Qualifications, and Leadership Characteristics:
A Ph.D. or terminal degree in the candidate’s respective field;
A recognized record of scholarship and research appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of endowed Full Professor;
A proven track record of scholarship and research in the area of online learning and innovation;
Strong academic leadership skills for conducting major research efforts within a large, complex, multi-faceted Research I institution;
An established national record for external research funding.
