In collaboration with the Access ETSU team, the Employment coordinator manages the development, implementation and evaluation of the career development and employment aspects of Access ETSU for up to 20 students. This includes: using a person-centered and individualized approach; educating students about career development, planning and implementation in a variety of formal and informal ways ( coursework, workshops, individual support/counseling, assessments, etc.); connecting students with career internships and experiences; networking with employers; developing and providing accommodations and supports; collecting student, employer, and program level data; and, collaborating with employers and employment service providers. Knowledge of current career development research and practices, creative problem-solving, reliability, and attention to detail are crucial for this position.
The Employment Coordinator will provide guidance to peer mentors, job coaches, or other support personnel on his/her tasks and schedule and may provide direct supervision and job coaching services to students. This position includes elements of systems change as well as individualized supports and advocacy in order to develop a career program that can be sustained beyond federal funding.
Provide overall day-to-day coordination of program activities focusing on career development and employment to ensure timely completion.
Act as Access ETSU team lead on all activities related to student career development and employment experiences.
Participate in Access ETSU program and related meetings.
Research and implement evidence- and research-based methods for providing high quality employment/career development experiences in post-secondary education programs for young adults with intellectual disabilities.
Develop program structure, materials, processes, and sustainability methods.
Collect data and develop reports as needed.
Secure career internships, paid student jobs as well as other experiential learning opportunities based on students’ individualized career goals.
Meet with students regularly to provide career counseling to refine their career goals and identify individualized strategies for success.
Select, administer, and interpret career assessments to identify student preferences, interests and needs
Assist students develop employment and internship application materials including resume, cover letter, references list, etc.
Develop and implement accommodations, job aides, and other supports needed by student or employer.
Implement job development to customize positions and support workplace supervisors and coworkers.
May provide on-the-job support to students.
Provide career development/employment instruction to students
Coordinate with other ETSU departments/programs regarding career development instruction on campus.
Develop curriculum and instructional materials for career workshops, courses, seminars or supplemental instruction as needed.
Collaborate with other instructional staff to co-sponsor training/coursework.
Develop and coordinate partnerships with others to develop career/employment elements of Access ETSU.
Implement job development to develop positive relationships with employers regarding internship and integrated employment opportunities.
Collaborate with community employment service providers to support students as needed.
Collaborate with Access ETSU students and their families to help them achieve their career related goals.
Guide the peer mentors to fulfill their job duties related to student career development and employment.
Gather, synthesize and apply career-related information, policies/procedures, regulations and evaluation information related to Access ETSU program and students.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelors Degree, preferably in Rehabilitation Counseling, Education, Special Education, Social Work or related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in employment services (relevant part-time, student worker, graduate assistant, and volunteer experience may be considered).
Minimum of one (1) year experience working with young adults with intellectual disabilities.
Training in working with young adults with intellectual disabilities.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills.
