Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Budget Analyst III for the School of Communication and (SCI) – Dean’s Office. Under the direction of the Director for of Business & Administration, the Budget Analyst III works as a budget generalist and will be involved in all aspects of the office operation. The Business Office is responsible for all financial planning, budget development, business plans, and implementation of procedures for the effective management of the School.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Implementation of the Responsible Centered Management (RCM) annual operating plans, budget development, and implementing procedures to effectively manage and report on the performance of the School's general operating budget.
Participates in developing the annual budget plan and the annual budget allocation of resources to all SCI units.
Completes periodic forecasts and analytical projects, collection, and analysis of budget and expense-related data from internal University sources as well as external sources.
Performs other duties and tasks as required for the smooth operation of the Business Office.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferably in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
A minimum five (5) years of prior experience working in a financial or accounting position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information.
Demonstrated experience of visual reporting skills, pie charts, heat maps, highlight tables.
Excellent computer skills and experience using spreadsheet, charting, and other software tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel (pivot tables), Access, PowerPoint, Tableau.
Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Strong writing skills sufficient to draft professional reports and correspondence that is clear and concise.
The ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially with regards to sensitive or confidential financial or organizational matters.
The ability to respond flexibly and positively in all circumstances, and to work calmly under pressure.
The ability and desire to work cooperatively with people from all levels in the University.
Five (5)+ years experience in a University environment preferred.
Knowledge of Rutgers University budget and accounting procedures strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Tableau or other data analytics/data visualization tools preferred.
Experience using software such as Hyperion Financial Management, Oracle General Ledger (Discoverer Reports), Tableau, RIAS, PeopleSoft HCM or similar systems.
