Job Description Summary The Counseling Center at Bentley University has an opening for a consulting psychiatrist to work 11 hours per week for a total of 31 weeks throughout the academic year. Schedule can be flexible, but candidate must be available on Tuesdays between 10 and 11 for staff case conference meeting. Additional hours may be requested if needed. This is a contracted position which is renewable each summer. At this time, the position is fully remote, so the candidate must feel comfortable using secure, telehealth software and evaluating/prescribing for students not in-person.
The person in the position will be responsible for consultation, medication evaluations, prescriptions, and follow up visits for students.
Due to limited hours and short-term model of care, the expectation is that the psychiatrist will evaluate and start the student on medication, if appropriate. Once stable, the psychiatrist will assist with the student's referral for outside continued care.
Most work will be with students experiencing moderate mood and anxiety symptoms; however, the psychiatrist will also be expected to evaluate and/or prescribe for students who are presenting more severely while they are being referred out for more intensive services.
Position involves close collaboration with staff psychologists and doctoral practicum students, so demonstrated ability to work as part of a team is required.
Experience with a college-age population or interest in this area is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a short-term model.
Good connections with the community for referrals outside of the Counseling Center are desirable.
Psychiatrist will not be expected to be on call, however, should be available for questions or issues that arise with patients on days they are not on campus.
Demonstrated interest and experience working with diverse, under-represented and under-served student groups.
Bentley University requires references checks and may conduct other pre-employment screening.
