The Employee Health Screening Associates will rotate through the roles of Greeter, Receptionist, Attendant/Observer, and Pooler/Packager performing the duties outlined below.
PLEASE NOTE: These appointments are based on responsibilities related to COVID Employee Screening. While we anticipate this testing or related duties may last a year or longer, there is no guarantee of such.
Duties of a Employee Health Screening Associate include but are not limited to the following:
Upon arrival to the testing station, introduces self and asks the employee if they are currently experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms; if yes, instructs the employee to stop and report to their health provided for further evaluation.
Asks asymptomatic employees to verify that they have followed all testing instructions and have completed the online registration process. If not, instructs the employee to complete the process before returning or if possible, arranges for another Employee Testing Associate to assist the employee with the registration process.
Scans the employee's ID card to document the employee's participation in the testing. If the employee does not have their ID card, explains that employee must return with their ID.
Checks to ensure that the employee has completed their profile in the COVID-19 registration app. If the employee has not done so, directs the employee to step aside and register before entering.
Provides the employee with the testing kit and instructs the employee to sanitize hands and then open the testing kit.
Instructs employees on the proper procedure for sample collection, observes and ensures the employee follows the proper procedure. Provides additional instruction as needed.
Instructs the employee on how to secure and seal the collection specimen.
Using the employee's ID badge, needed information such as name, date of birth, etc on the collection tube.
After writing the employee's information on the collection tube, confirms that the employee's ID was entered correctly into the registration by comparing the ID on the registration confirmation page with the employee's physical ID.
Instructs the employee to finalize their registration.
In the event the collection was unsuccessful, discards the collection tube and instructs the employee to return to the Receptionist's table.
Places the completed collection tube to Collection Rack. Notifies the Pooler/packager to retrieve the rack once it contains all 12 samples in the pool.
Pools or packages specimens as per established protocols.
Changes gloves or uses a disinfecting wipe to vigorously clean their gloves and cleans face shield with a disinfecting wipe before handling the next set of pool tubes.
Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes collection site, with a fresh disinfecting wipe. Collects and disposes of waste using a double glove procedure.
Packages all specimens per established protocols and ships or delivers packages to the lab at scheduled intervals.
A High School Diploma or equivalent
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
Familiarity with basic use of mobile devices/smart phones
Must be extremely reliable, dependable and possess strong organizational skills
Prior reception or office experience

Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
Successfully complete a 5 panel drug screen*
Successfully complete a Background Check investigation.
Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
