Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Five (5) years of full-time administrative, project support or research experience, to include management/supervisory experience of a large NIH grant.
Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Budget management experience. Experience with implementing protocols and policies. Project management experience. Experience with financial business management systems (Oracle). Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Apps. Additional years (6+) of full-time administrative, project support or research experience, to include management/supervisory experience of a large NIH grant. Experience in management and administration of a Clinical and Translational Science Center
Brief Description of Duties:
This high-profile position reports directly to the Associate Vice President and will champion an innovative research leadership institute that addresses intra-campus coordination, community engagement, clinical trials, and external collaboration opportunities. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) leads the development of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) initiatives from concept through defining strategic direction to ultimate implementation. As ambassador for the CTSA Leadership Council, she/he establishes lines of communication with all key stakeholders at local, state, and national levels. The COO is responsible for monitoring the budget and will supervise CTSA programmatic activities.
Prepare recommendations for meeting the needs of the program for CTSA leadership
Develop working plans, long range goals, and short-range objectives.
Direct and coordinate CTSA-related institutional research information exchanges with other institutions, agencies, or entities..
Identify and coordinate collaboration between CTSA components, SBU researchers, and SBU external partners, including the CTSA consortium and private companies.
Develop, interpret, and assist in implementing protocols, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance procedures to assure appropriate and timely access to CTSA initiatives.
Support and organize program review efforts and determine viability of proposed resource allocation.
Serve as a member of institutional and CTSA consortium level committees.
Participate in professional organizations as appropriate to CTSA.
Other duties as assigned.
