The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for the overall production of the invoice and payment processes, coordination of 1099 reporting, and review and compliance reporting of the Employee Business Travel & Expense Reimbursement. The position is responsible for ensuring a seamless interface between payables and purchasing on payment and invoice/PO-related issues, as well as being the functional lead and subject matter expert in theÂ payable software applications and interfaces.Â
The position is required to establish internal controls, policies and procedures to protect the assets of the organization and determine new controls, policies or procedures that address the growth of the organization.Â The position also includes the management of the Purchasing Card program, participant study reimbursement program, and travel program for the University
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for directing and managing the Accounts Payable staff to provide accurate and timely processing and disbursement of vendor obligations and ensure the integrity of their financial accounting systems. The management of the Accounts Payable staff includes hiring, training, assigning, and directing the work flow of the staff.
The Accounts Payable Manager promotes a strong customer service orientation, while ensuring appropriate internal controls against fraud, waste, or misuse of funds. This position interacts on a routine and regular basis with upper management and external customers as well as other internal customer departments to integrate solutions that meet the organizational goals both financially and operationally. The Accounts Payable Manager also prepares the AP related training material and coordinates training for University constituents.Â
Bachelorâ™s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
5-7 years experience in accounts payable at a professional level or related
Significant account payable experience required
3 years supervisory experience
Extensive knowledge about accounting and management principles and Accounts Payable procedures
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, improve processes and provide exceptional customer service
Experience mentoring or leading staff
Experience in 1099 reporting
Experience with creating training programs and facilitating training
Experience with Workday preferred, including the ability to analyze
Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge (including fund accounting) and strong attention to detail requiredÂ
Detailed oriented and accuracy-focused
Excellent customer service skills
Strong organizational, planning and management skills
Strong Excel skillsÂ
Excellent customer relation skills, dealing with individuals in person, through telephone and written correspondence
Ability to work well under pressure, with good organizational skills in order to meet critical deadlines
Ability to analyze processes and clearly document office procedures
Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
