The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is now recruiting a Specialist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank. The position is in structural biology and is necessary to determine three dimensional structures of important proteins and protein complexes. The proteins include enzymes and receptors associated with cancer and viral proteins and neutralizing antibodies against SARS CoV-2 proteins that are associated with COVID-19. Specific functions include purification, sample preparation for and design and implementation of crystallization trials as well as demonstrated experience in crystal optimization techniques. Sample preparation and optimization for cryo-EM studies. Data collection and interpretation of both X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy data. Design, execution and troubleshooting of parallel antibody discovery projects from start to finish. Additional functions include protein biophysical characterization including determination of binding constants using biolayer interferometry (BLI on an Octet RED384 system) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR). Mass Photometer assays on a Refeyn One Mass Photometer are also needed to facilitate rapid evaluation of sample quality for structural biology efforts.
Required Qualifications: • Assistant or Associate ranks: A master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience. • Full rank: A terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience. • Candidate’s must meet the requirements by the time of appointment. Candidate’s CV or cover letter must list qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.
