The Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a full-time Junior Specialist. The responsibilities for this position will include research involving tissue culture, protein interaction analysis, expression of recombinant proteins, molecular cloning, optimization of assays and screens, preparation of samples for mass spectrometry analysis and possible mouse work. This position is for one year (with the possibility for renewal) and suitable for an individual with skills in biological sciences who is looking to gain research experience on the way to further career development such as going on to graduate, medical, or MD/PhD training. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.

Required Qualifications: • Must possess (or in process of obtaining) a bachelor’s degree. • Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. • Must have previous experience in laboratory work. • Have strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. • Candidates must meet the qualifications by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: • Expertise in tissue culture, electrophoresis, DNA manipulation techniques (molecular biology), western blotting, immunoprecipitation, transfection, pull down assays, and (optional) mouse handling and genotyping.
